- Exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Nurse with a client in Birmingham. Please find the details below. The closing date for applications is Friday 14th March 2025.
Required for a busy inner city Doctors surgery, we are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated experienced nurse to enhance and maintain the service the practice provides, and to steer the present practice nurse team.
Main duties of the job.
Applicant will need to be able to;-
To assist in the care of practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.
The implementation and evaluation of the chronic obstructive airways programmes which include asthma, diabetes, Copd, CHD, hypertension, mental health and epilepsy. This list is not exhaustive and part of the role would be to consider which other areas of care might be suited to the Practice Nurse e.g. administer injection.
Accessing and advising and administering appropriately travel injection for patient travelling abroad
Requesting and interpreting test as appropriate to patient needs
To be responsible for infection control and advise the practice on health and safety related issues
To provide general and specific health screening to the practice patients with referral to general practitioner if necessary advise patients on general care and minor ailments
Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, ECG ETC perform any investigatory procedures.
To Advise patients opportunistically on general health care and promote a healthy lifestyle .
To order equipment and supplies as necessary
Maintain accurate patient records, registers and statistics
To participate as a team member within the practice
To participate in the process of clinical Audit
Professional development by identifying own training needs and attending relevant courses and study days to meet this need.
The practice is committed to supporting the development of all staff. All employees have a responsibility to participate
in regular appraisal with the GP
Job Summary
To provide nursing services to patient of the practice in participation with General practitioners according to agreed and documented protocols. These Service include treatment, screening and advice with the professional competence of the post holder. The Post holder should additionally be responsible for the management of the treatment room where applicable.
Hours can be considered but from 25 hours per week
Pay will be negotiable depending on experience .
Preference they have worked in a GP Practice with a nursing team.
Must be a qualified nurse.
