- Description
- We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Nuclear Medicine Physician / Radionuclide radiologist to join our team and contribute to the modernization and expansion of the nuclear medicine services in the trust.
The advertised post is for a substantive, permanent role with 10PA's and will cover all diagnostic Nuclear Medicine work as well as a range of outpatient therapeutic procedures.
The post is primarily located at Queens's Hospital, Romford, Essex, although there may be some sessions at King George Hospital, Ilford.
The successful candidate will support the current Clinical Lead and will be directly involved in the implementation of hybrid imaging in the trust.
The post holder will be encouraged to develop a particular area of expertise.
Each consultant will have an office space, secretarial provision, access to a PACS reporting station, a PC and in addition a reporting workstation for remote access to images.
It is expected that the post holder will contribute to specialist MDTs.
The candidate will undergo Trust induction after starting the job.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
* To provide medical cover for patients while in the Nuclear Medicine.
* Vetting and supervision of scans in the Nuclear Medicine department to maintain quality.
* Supervision of cardiac stress procedures.
* Reporting of all imaging and non-imaging examinations including paediatric scans performed in the department.
* Processing of SPECT and SPECT/CT studies as required.
* To participate in the delivery of the radionuclide therapy service for benign and malignant thyroid therapy following discussion.
* Administration of radium therapy injections for castrate resistant metastatic prostate cancer, working closely with the Clinical Oncologists.
* General liaison with other departments and attendance to agreed MDT's.
* To participate in teaching of staff and students.
* To be involved with the development of the Nuclear Medicine service, including participating in and initiating research within the department.
* To participate in departmental meetings, and in-house teaching programs.
* To participate in regular clinical audit within the department and to comply with audit information requests from other Trust departments.
* To commit to personal development within the scope of practice and comply with any revalidation requirements.
